Gameplay and Achievements
Gameplay
Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart’s racing gameplay feels fast with the abundance of thrilling speed boosts and hectic obstacles to race past. Every map has a variety of these unique hurdles with one stand out spectacle being a gigantic dinosaur, who obstructs most of the path. Furthermore, battle items provide everyone with a fun and balanced way to make the races just a little more chaotic. The game features three difficulties for every race and an auto steer setting for younger players needing a little extra help. This allows players to choose an experience tailored to their skill with the hardest difficulties requiring mastering of the game’s drift mechanics and shortcuts. Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart’s gameplay can be experienced in both single player and couch co-op. The game’s split screen gameplay is an exciting experience and one of the biggest draws to the game.
Achievement Hunting Thoughts
Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart takes between 2-3 hours to gain 1000 gamerscore. Achievements involve experiencing all the content the game holds from unlocking all the characters, skins, and maps by playing the adventure mode and a few regular single races to winning a race in 4 player split screen. Unfortunately, the achievement for winning in a 4 player split screen race requires you to own four controllers. Overall, the game allows players of all skill levels to beat it with the easier difficulties and auto steer being available to players, who might struggle.
Presentation
Visuals and Animations
The visuals and animations in Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart are phenomenal. Everything in the game is dinosaur themed and as a result the racetracks are each set in unique and breathtaking environments bursting with beautifully animated dinosaur life. The vibrant maps in the game are of really high quality and will have you wanting to go off the racetrack to explore the background landscapes. Despite leaving the race’s determined route being most of the time impossible the shortcuts do allow for this and finding these shortcuts can be very rewarding as you get to see more of the maps. Furthermore, the animations are super smooth and full of tiny details that bring the world to life. As you race you will often glimpse a dinosaur in the distance doing some small action that might even impact the obstacles in the course. In conclusion, the game looks amazing, helping to create an immersive experience.
Sound
Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart has a vast array of great tunes covering different genres. This is because the music reflects the environment being raced through in every track. For this reason, the songs are not at all repetitive and the music is addicting. Furthermore, the sound effects were extremely pleasing to hear but they seemed a little too loud making the music hard to hear. However, this can be adjusted in the settings along with how loud the voices are. The voices become annoying and repetitive quite quickly. In conclusion, the music is fantastic and sound effects are pleasant, but the voices are not for everyone.
Conclusion
Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart is a great single player racing game but where it really excels is the couch co-op. Regardless of how you play, the action-packed gameplay, mesmerising graphics, and enchanting music will shock you in its quality. However, only the game’s split screen co-op enables players to come together as a family or a group of friends to drown themselves into the fun. In conclusion, the focus of being accessible to a younger audience while being still fun to older more skilled players is something this game does exceptionally well to stand out from other racing games.
Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart’s final score = 9/10
